Many patients want to hear from other patients. One way of achieving this is to highlight patients in our new ‘Patient of the Week’ blog. Time allowing we will ask many of you to share with fellow patients some of your keys to success.

Congratulations Maria! You are doing great and you are the ‘patient of the week’!

Club New You (CNY) Are you happy that you had bariatric surgery?
MB “Yes, more than happy. I’m blessed!”

CNY Would you recommend this to your friends and family?
MB “Yes I do and would forever recommend this”.

CNY Have you told your friends that you have had surgery and what do they think about it?
MB “I actually shouted it out to the world. I have inspired a lot of people.”

CNY Which procedure did you choose to have and why?
MB “The Lap Band was the best choice for me”.

CNY What is the hardest lifestyle change that you have had to deal with?
MB “Portion control and sticking to eating planned meals at certain times instead of eating all throughout the day”.

CNY Are there any foods that you have trouble eating?
MB “My favorites and smoked deer meats”.

CNY What foods, if any, do you miss eating?
MB “None. Those foods were bad for me and I’m glad that they are gone out of my life”!

CNY What types of activities do you do for your exercise?
MB “Any activities that do not include my food. My two new best friends are water aerobics and zumba along with walking and jogging.”

CNY Any words of wisdom for our present patients or for people thinking about surgery?
MB “Make the change, stay motivated, keep focused and be positive. Surround yourself with supportive family and friends that are going to help you. It’s not going to be easy, it’s going to take time and careful planning. It’s not for the ‘now’, it’s for the ‘forever’. You will be successful and achieve all your goals. It’s up to you. Allow yourself to shine and be proud of all your accomplishments. Remember, after all the storms comes many rainbows!”

CNY Thanks Maria! Keep up the good work!
