PATIENT OF THE WEEK JODY BALLARD
Many patients want to hear from other patients. One way of achieving this is to highlight patients in our new ‘Patient of the Week’ blog. Time allowing we will ask many of you to share with fellow patients some of your keys to success.
Club New You (CNY) Are you happy that you had bariatric surgery?
Jody (JB) “Yes – if I had it to do over I would do it again.”
CNY Would you recommend this to your friends and family?
JB “Yes”
CNY Have you told your friends that you have had surgery and what do they think about it?
JB “Yes they have been very supportive.”
CNY Which procedure did you choose to have and why?
JB “Lap Band”
CNY What is the hardest lifestyle change that you have had to deal with?
JB “Portion control”
CNY Are there any foods that you have trouble eating?
JB “Steak, roast, and some breads”
CNY What foods, if any, do you miss eating?
JB “Steak”
CNY What types of activities do you do for your exercise?
JB “Running – training now for the St Jude half marathon (13.1 miles) on December 3rd. Then a full marathon (26.2 miles) in early spring 2012.”
CNY Any words of wisdom for our present patients or for people thinking about surgery?
JB “Bariatric surgery is not a cure-all for weight loss. You need to have a made up mind to eat right and exercise. The surgery is to HELP not the ‘do all’ miracle. You still have to beware of good and bad food choices. Bariatric surgery is a great aid for portion control, but ultimately you make the choice to eat healthy. Take all advice from Dr. Woodman and his staff and you will be successful.”
CNY Thanks Jody! Keep up the good work!
