PATIENT OF THE WEEK RENEE THOMAS
Many patients want to hear from other patients. One way of achieving this is to highlight patients in our new ‘Patient of the Week’ blog. Time allowing we will ask many of you to share with fellow patients some of your keys to success.

Club New You (CNY) Are you happy that you had bariatric surgery?
Renee (RT) “Yes, I am happy that I had the surgery and I would definitely do it again.”

CNY Would you recommend this to your friends and family?
RT “Yes, I would recommend this procedure. In fact I have and they are awaiting approval.”

CNY Have you told your friends that you have had surgery and what do they think about it?
RT “My family and friends have been very supportive. Some have even started the process to having the procedure done as well.”

CNY Which procedure did you choose to have and why?
RT “I chose the Lap Band.”

CNY What is the hardest lifestyle change that you have had to deal with?
RT “Eating less of course! Eating has always been a comfort event. We eat when we are happy, sad, celebrating, gathering, etc. It seems like there is always a reason to gather and eat!”

CNY Are there any foods that you have trouble eating?
RT “Bread and dry meat if not chewed properly.”

CNY What foods, if any, do you miss eating?
RT “Believe it or not a Big Mac! I haven’t had one in over 2 years. I can’t imagine eating one now.”

CNY What types of activities do you do for your exercise?
RT “I walk daily and have an elliptical. I have a group of co-workers with whom I do various activities with. I would like to Zumba but haven’t been brave enough for that yet.”

CNY Any words of wisdom for our present patients or for people thinking about surgery?
RT “Words of advice if you want it bad enough…you can achieve it! It has been wonderful to have had the support of friends and family.”

CNY Thanks Renee! Keep up the good work!
